About Evgeny
Evgeny Donskoy, the 36-year-old Russian, remains best known for one electric night in Dubai in 2017, when he saved three match points and stunned Roger Federer. That result carried him to a career-high ranking of No. 65, but it also captures a larger truth about his resilience.
A right-hander who turned pro in the late 2000s, Donskoy has spent much of his career inside the Top 150 without ever breaking through as a mainstay of the top tier. His win rate reflects a steady, not spectacular, presence on the ATP tour, with more success coming on hard courts than elsewhere. Matches against top-10 opponents have been rare, yet his 14-year longevity rests on a habit of beating the level of player he should beat, a reliability that has kept him employed at Challenger and ATP levels alike. Consistency, not flash, has defined his body of work.
