Stefanos Tsitsipas earned his 400th tour-level victory by beating 18th seed Luciano Darderi 6-3, 6-4 in a completed second-round match at the Rolex Shanghai Masters on Saturday, October 10, 2026. The milestone reflects a career built across seasons and surfaces; his next assignment, against Taylor Fritz, is a separate test of his progress at this hard-court ATP Masters 1000 event.

For the 28-year-old Greek, Shanghai provides a fitting connection between the beginning and the latest landmark. He recorded his first tour-level win here in 2017, defeating Karen Khachanov in the first round. Nine years later, victory over Darderi brought his career record to 400 wins and 204 defeats.

That record covers 604 tour-level matches. Dividing 400 by 604 gives a career winning rate of approximately 66.2%, or roughly two victories for every three matches played. It is a measure of his full tour-level history, not his record in Shanghai alone or his winning rate for the 2026 season.

The achievement also sits alongside 13 tour-level titles, including the 2019 ATP Finals crown, and a historical career-high ranking of No. 3. Those honours give the round number substance: Tsitsipas has combined a substantial volume of wins with title-winning peaks. His current Shanghai run adds another chapter rather than changing what those past achievements represent.

A milestone backed by strong serving

The Darderi match supplied concrete evidence of how Tsitsipas secured the landmark. In one hour, 28 minutes and 44 seconds, he struck 16 aces, won 32 of 38 points behind his first serve and 12 of 19 behind his second. He held all 10 service games and saved each of the three break points he faced.

His second-set figures were particularly convincing: Tsitsipas won all 15 points played behind his first serve and faced no break points. That was a perfect first-serve points record for the set, not for the whole match. The distinction matters because the opening set required him to protect his serve under pressure, whereas Darderi had no break-point opportunity in the second.

On return, Tsitsipas converted two of five break chances, with one break in each set. Combined with his unbroken service record, that was enough to produce a straight-sets result without a tie-break. The score was decisive, but the statistics show that protecting his own games was as important as taking opportunities against Darderi.

It was his second win of the tournament. He had opened against qualifier Kimmer Coppejans in the round of 128, winning 6-3, 7-5, before defeating the seeded Darderi in the round of 64. Both matches ended in straight sets; the second set against Darderi finished 6-4 rather than 7-5. The progression gives his milestone an immediate competitive setting, beyond the career total itself.

Fritz makes the next round a fresh test

Tsitsipas now faces 11th seed Taylor Fritz in the third round, the round of 32. The opponent is confirmed: Fritz advanced by beating Matteo Arnaldi 7-5, 6-4 on October 10. That match finished under the roof on Grandstand 2 because of rain, and the American arrives with his own straight-sets second-round victory.

Fritz is a former Shanghai semi-finalist, giving the next match a different tournament context from the encounters with Coppejans and Darderi. Tsitsipas has beaten a qualifier and the 18th seed; he now meets the 11th seed with experience of going deeper here. The draw presents a new opponent, not a continuation of the statistical advantages recorded against Darderi.

There is also a season-ending objective on Fritz’s side. He stood 12th in the ATP Live Race to Turin in the Saturday report and was pursuing qualification for the ATP Finals. That Race position measures the season’s qualification contest; it is separate from his Shanghai seeding and from Tsitsipas’s career-best ranking.

For Tsitsipas, this is his third appearance in a Masters 1000 third round in 2026. Reaching that stage is the achievement already secured; advancing further remains the task. His serving against Darderi offers a strong performance benchmark for the Fritz meeting, while the 400-win total supplies the longer perspective. One records what he has sustained throughout his career; the other match will determine how far this Shanghai run continues.
